BEN'S STORY

This is the story of Ben, one of our study group patients, and is told in his own words:

"I am a middle aged male and married with a family. When I was about 25 I began suffering from an itchy and irritated anus. The skin would crack and sometimes bleed, and after going to the bathroom, I would be very sore. Afterwards I would itch horribly for hours. I was so sore, itchy and run ragged, I eventually went to the doctor.

He prescribed a hydrocortisone cream. It didn't really work for long. And he said not to use it for more than a week. So the relief was short lived.
